Robert Pitman of Hampton, husband of Ethel (Evans) Pitman, passed away June 12, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in Yarmouth, NS, son of the late Curtis and Mildred (Perry) Pitman.
Bob was in the Royal Canadian Air Force for 11 years. He then worked at NB Tel for 28 years retiring in 1992. Bob was a member and Past President of Hampton Branch 28, Royal Canadian Legion, Hampton Seniors Resource Centre and Hampton Photo Club. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels and loved travelling, gardening, woodworking and taking long walks with his dog Buddy.
He is survived by his wife Ethel; one son, Brian Pitman of Ottawa; two daughters, Brenda Pitman (Daniel Nicolle) of Quispamsis, Carol Pitman (Jim Fong) of Halifax, NS; three step-daughters, Darlene Bourque (Terry), Cathy Parlee (Brent Blakney), Tracey Vautour; three step-sons, Richard Vautour (Yvonne), Stephen Vautour (Marie-Josee), Randy Vautour (Louise); four grandchildren, Alexis and Andrew Pitman, Cole and Jordan Abbott; several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Myrna Sweirkota (Richard), Grimsby, ON, one niece and three nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Sylvia Pitman.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, June 16, 2012 an hour before the service from noon – 1:00pm at Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton. A reception will follow at the Hampton Legion Hall. Interment in Hampton Rural Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer Society of Saint John or a charity of the donor’s choice.
